The SONIMAT LSW laser welding solution is based on a laser beam delivered by fibre optics to the processing point. Indeed, the optical treatment makes it possible to create a point to weld plastic part without contact.

Laser welding works on the transparency of two superimposed materials:

• one is transparent to laser radiation;
• while the other absorbs the laser beam

The laser beam is focused at the junction of the two parts, passing through the transparent material to melt the absorbent material. Welding plastics this way creates a solid bond resulting from the rapid cooling of the assembly after the laser beam is removed.
